Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She is employed by ESPN as an SportsCenter News Anchor. She joined ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins is bilingual and has been since the age of nine. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first position at Univision, Miami. She worked alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. It was the CBS station located in St. Petersburg hired her following this to become a sports reporter. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. In 2009, she relocated into Rio Grande Valley, Texas and became a reporter for KNVO 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Anchor duties for sports or weather were regularly demanded. She then anchored and reported at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. She wrote pieces on the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Besides this, she produced Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. She was promoted as a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as a sports anchor in Primer Impacto, a magazine program on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents come from Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved to Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. She is older than her sister. In 1992, the family left Mexico to the US and eventually settled in Miami. After a short time, her father separated from her mother. She later remarried in the year 1995 to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in the year 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, the younger Collins took a place alongside her elder sister. Antonietta is a senior in high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union would be a good fit for her, Antonietta went to visit the university. She discovered that she was a fan of the campus and that the school had the program she desired. She graduated from high school and began studying media at the University. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the manager for WRMU 91.1 FM of which she was a member. Her professor urged her to believe in herself and was deeply touched by his enthusiasm for journalism.
